I need some help with this, I have seen tons of knots but nothing that shows me how to join 80lb braid to 80lb mono (top shoot 100-150 yds) I also need to know how to tie the jigs onto the line. The giant standup rod Dennis use is Calstar designed by Dennis. I don't think Calstar sell them to the public. BH sent us Prototype giant standup rod on the Excel trip and Shin tested the rod. It is very stiff rod. It might need softened tip. Btw, I'm using Daiwa j Braid Multi, so the thickness difference between 65# and 80# is 0.41 vs 0.43mm, which is a pretty small difference. You might have a better hookset with a single hook AT TIMES, but your going to get more chances to set the hook with the treble. WIth fish like tuna, they set the hook themselves so the hooks get buried the same way regarless of a treble or single.

I am not sure where you fish, but I fish NJ for yellowfin and average jig is between 120 - 170 gram. Put the squidder on one if the 7' rods and spool with 15 or 20# P-line and use that as a bait stick for sardines. Fill that Tourium 16 with 40 or 50# spectra and get a short jigging rod, like a United Composites Zeus 2. Get some vertical jigs in the 150-200g range.
